Changed the Purpose Narrative of impact for funders and donors

Sanjana Sharma is determined to be a doctor. To fulfil this goal, the Class 8 girl from Lucknow attends computer classes every day after school. Ask her why computer classes, and pat comes the response, “Learning to use computers increases my chances of finding a job. And once I find a job, I can finance my NEET coaching myself, without burdening my father.” She is but one of the many stories of the Bharat EdTech Initiative helping children from marginalized communities to redefine their future possibilities.

Having understood the everyday challenges of millions of marginalised children when it came to their education, the BEI initiative focused on scaling edtech solutions for this group through a unique model of Edtech specialists and On-ground partners to devise the programs that are Affordable, Accessible for the child and parent no matter their circumstance. This is BEI’s educational transformation through inclusion and trust.

But their challenge was managing the understanding and expectation of critical stakeholders and  being confused with the commercial edTech ecosystem that operates with a completely different business model.

Looking beyond numerical stats to attitudinal and behaviour change that was blossoming among young students was the need of the hour.

We reimagined  the purpose narrative for BEI so their stakeholders understood the scale of what was being achieved from individual perspectives and the uniqueness of how it was being achieved through collaborations. After all, change at scale takes time - one personal story at a time.

Execution

Online and on-ground interactions opened up a treasure trove of inspiring stories of real change that was visible and tangible. It allowed us to go beyond purely data driven performance measures to  build hope and trust among partners. Through videos, blogs and posts we built a compelling picture of real progress on-ground.

To demonstrate the scale of activity taking place in far flung places across the country we reimagined the way impact data was showcased by developing a purpose built interactive map with click-throughs that unpacked the details of program progress by site.

The AHH Campaign is an ongoing one at this point. So far we have done a blend of six videos, 10 organic posts, one infographic, LinkedIn articles, and blogs.

Results:

Critically, the campaign has opened the doors for strategic partnerships with state governments and the CSR community. Amazing continues to happen here!
